Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2024/02/27)

This movie feels like a reboot. The animation style is great - not my favorite, "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" still attracts me more - and the turtles' personalities remain, in a refreshing makeover for the era that was established. Still, the amount of 2020s references crossed the line, giving me a bit of vicarious embarrassment.

I would forgive all of this if Donatello had not committed a serious sin: he mentions multiple times that he likes the "Attack on Titan" anime, and even use it as an example of strategy for the final battle at the end of the movie. Despite of that, when he's at the top of the giant Superduperfly, he didn't hum the anime's opening theme. I don't know if he actually did that in the original version, but at least he didn't on the (still great) Brazilian dub.

Another point is April. She looks like a "random character to fit in multiple minorities". No, I'm not that type of idiot who sees a girl in a movie and says "woke culture!!1". The problem is that she doesn't have much depth, hopeless. I would like to see she being better developed.

Despite some flaws, it's a great movie, I had a lot of fun with it.
